Background

Ben Gervais (owner) has a bachelor and master degree in music education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He was a band director, percussion and jazz specialist in Missouri for three year before getting a master degree in percussion performance with a certificate in higher education administration. He has extensive experience with DCI as a performer, drum major, and staff member. He has been a staff member for DCI, WGI, and BOA finalist groups.

After moving back into the Kansas City area, he was a freelance percussion specialist before teaching middle school band in the Blue Valley school district for five years. Currently, he teaches drumline and percussion at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. He is the percussion coordinator for Olathe Northwest high school.

He proudly endorses Sabian Cymbals and Gon Bops percussion.

After the pandemic, percussion items became difficult to come by in a decent amount of time. To better help directors stay in their budget and have their inventory ready for students, BG Percussion was launched.
